1. What cookies are
Cookies are small values stored by a browser for a website. Depending on their settings, the browser sends them with matching requests. They can support sessions, preferences or tracking. Not every form of storage on a device is a cookie.
2. How CATDOG™ uses cookies
The website has no cookie-based login or advertising integration. Google Analytics 4 may create the first-party cookies listed below only after you select Accept analytics. If you decline or have not answered, the Google Analytics script remains unloaded and sends no analytics data.
3. Cookies versus browser storage
localStorage and sessionStorage are browser storage APIs. Unlike cookies, their values are not automatically attached to HTTP requests. Scripts on the same origin can access them; they should not be used for secrets.
The inventory below includes analytics consent, optional GA4 cookies, the active theme preference and the inactive development-only intro item. No seasonal preference is persisted. Browser-managed caches of pages and images are separate from these application keys.

4. Functional behaviour
The website does not require an application cookie or analytics acceptance to read its public pages. Theme and consent localStorage are first-party preferences. If localStorage is blocked, the website still works, but those choices may not be remembered on a later visit.
5. Preference storage
Choosing Light, Dark or System writes catdog-theme. System follows the operating system’s current colour preference, including changes while the page is open. Local theme and motion checks are not sent to a tracking endpoint.
The unfinished intro is disabled in production, so ordinary visits do not initialise its session flag. A developer explicitly enabling the preview may create catdog-intro-seen. URL season overrides affect that URL and are not saved as a cookie or a browser-storage preference.
6. Analytics
The website uses Google Analytics 4 with measurement ID G-P5S0VQGMWE after explicit analytics acceptance. CATDOG™ uses it to understand aggregate navigation and interaction patterns. Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, remarketing pixels, Hotjar, Clarity and session replay are not configured.
Before acceptance, gtag.js is not loaded, Analytics cookies are not created and no analytics or cookieless consent pings are sent. CATDOG™ does not intentionally send contact-form content or other directly identifying form fields to Google Analytics.
7. Third-party cookies and resources
The application does not embed third-party maps, video players or social feeds. Fonts use installed Calibri or the system fallback; there is no Google Fonts request. Images and application scripts are served as site assets. Clicking an external link or emailing CATDOG uses other services whose own storage practices may differ.
8. Managing preferences
Use Cookie Settings in the footer to accept, decline or change the analytics choice. Changing accepted to declined stops future analytics events and attempts to remove this site’s _ga cookies. Use the Colour theme control in the navigation to change the remembered theme preference. Clearing site data resets both preferences.
9. Browser controls
Your browser’s site-data controls can remove or block cookies and browser storage; some browsers provide separate controls for each. Clearing only cookies may not clear localStorage. Clearing site data resets the saved theme. Private browsing and browser session restoration can change how long local or session data survives.
10. Changes to this policy
The inventory must be reviewed whenever scripts, embeds, authentication, analytics or hosting settings change. Optional analytics must remain inactive until acceptance. The last-updated date identifies the current revision.
