Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small values stored by a browser for a website. Depending on their settings, the browser sends them with matching requests. They can support sessions, preferences or tracking. Not every form of storage on a device is a cookie.

2. How CATDOG uses cookies

The current application code does not create cookies and contains no cookie-based advertising, analytics or login integration. Hosting and network providers may operate separately from the application.

3. Cookies versus browser storage

localStorage and sessionStorage are browser storage APIs. Unlike cookies, their values are not automatically attached to HTTP requests. Scripts on the same origin can access them; they should not be used for secrets.

The inventory below includes the active theme preference and the inactive development-only intro item. No seasonal preference is persisted. Browser-managed caches of pages and images are separate from these application keys.

4. Functional behaviour

The website does not require an application cookie to read its public pages. Theme storage is a functional convenience, not an advertising identifier or a condition of access. If storage is blocked, the application still renders and the selected theme can work for the current visit without being remembered.

5. Preference storage

Choosing Light, Dark or System writes catdog-theme. System follows the operating system’s current colour preference, including changes while the page is open. Local theme and motion checks are not sent to a tracking endpoint.

The unfinished intro is disabled in production, so ordinary visits do not initialise its session flag. A developer explicitly enabling the preview may create catdog-intro-seen. URL season overrides affect that URL and are not saved as a cookie or a browser-storage preference.

6. Analytics

No Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, advertising pixel, Hotjar, Clarity, session replay or similar audience tracking is configured in this application. Hosting request logs, if enabled, are distinct from browser analytics. Their use depends on the hosting configuration.

No optional tracker or consent banner is added by this policy. Before introducing optional analytics or marketing technologies, CATDOG must review the data flows, update this inventory and put any required prior consent and withdrawal controls in place.

7. Third-party cookies and resources

The application does not embed third-party maps, video players or social feeds. Fonts use installed Calibri or the system fallback; there is no Google Fonts request. Images and application scripts are served as site assets. Clicking an external link or emailing CATDOG uses other services whose own storage practices may differ.

8. Managing preferences

Use the Colour theme control in the navigation to change the remembered preference. Choosing System still stores that choice; it does not delete the key. To remove it, clear this site’s browser storage. There is no Cookie Settings dialog because no optional tracking consent system is configured.

9. Browser controls

Your browser’s site-data controls can remove or block cookies and browser storage; some browsers provide separate controls for each. Clearing only cookies may not clear localStorage. Clearing site data resets the saved theme. Private browsing and browser session restoration can change how long local or session data survives.

10. Changes to this policy

The inventory must be reviewed whenever scripts, embeds, authentication, analytics or hosting settings change. Any future optional tracking must not be loaded first and presented for consent afterwards. The last-updated date identifies the current revision.
